Dr. Shannon La Cava, Psy.D, is the Director of the Simms/Mann UCLA Center for Integrative Oncology.
She is a leader in the fields of integrative and psychosocial oncology and promotes multidisciplinary engagement to support the social and emotional needs of pediatric, young adult, and adult patients and caregivers. Dr. La Cava leads a team of 30+ clinicians, nutritionists, psychiatrists, chaplains, and mind-body practitioners dedicated to delivering quality, whole-person care to individuals and families impacted by cancer at UCLA Health.
Prior to her work at the Simms Mann Center, Dr. La Cava proudly held the position of Chief Clinical Officer at Cancer Support Community Los Angeles for eight years.
As an active member of the American Psychosocial Oncology Society (APOS), Dr. La Cava believes in a family systems approach to quality care.
In 2021, Dr. La Cava was accepted onto the American Psychological Association (APA) inaugural Health Equity Committee and was appointed 2022 Committee Chair by her peers.
In 2024, Dr. La Cava received The Wellness Award for her work in the field of psycho-oncology and for co-creating CSCLA’s HEART (Healing Equitably through Action Resilience and Teamwork) program.
