May is Mental Health Month, and this year's theme is "Mind Your Health." You can start by visiting Mental Health America to learn ways to improve your overall health and wellness, recognize the importance of mental health, and get the facts on common mental health issues.
This week, I had the great opportunity to visit the Developmental Psychology class of Dr. Patricia Johnson at Mission Community College as a guest lecturer. It was a pleasure to talk about my experiences with children and families experiencing pervasive developmental diagnoses and pediatric illness with such an interactive and engaged group of students.
Thank you to L.A. Child Guidance Clinic, Autism Speaks, & 211 for putting on the Lower the Age of Autism Diagnosis and Increase Access to Early Intervention workshop on Monday, April 21st in Los Angeles. It was an informative day focussing on personal experiences, future goals, and existing research for families with an Autism Spectrum Diagnosis. I look forward to hearing about future community lectures from these amazing partners in Autism advocacy.
